OVERVIEW
What is it ?
Crime Manager is a Intranet based database designed to provide Police organisations and departments with a practical and affordable alternative to the national Holmes crime enquiry system.
How is it written ?
Crime Manager uses proven and established web technology to both post and retrieve data to a single database written using Microsoft SQL server. It can run either a single operation if that is all that is required of it, or multiple operations all of which can be kept separate from each other. See the permissions page for more information on this aspect of this system.
Who wrote it ?
Unlike most commercial software Crime Manager has been designed and written by ex Police officers and ex Police employed programmers with over 60 years of practical on the job experience of crime enquiries and the problems faced in dealing with these issues on the front line. Its main designer is a recently retired ex detective who spent the last ten years of his service managing the most high profile crime enquiries with a national Police force. Additionally currently serving officers have also made suggestions about its design resulting in the most up to date system possible. Crime Manager does exactly what you need it to do and does it without being over complicated. The most anti-technology officer will use this system with ease.
Why is an alternative needed ?
We are all aware that Holmes, whilst a brilliant system, is primarily dedicated in most forces to really major enquiries leaving smaller enquiries and departments with no proper method of managing enquiries efficiently in an auditable and accountable fashion. Crime Manager is easy to use and to train by comparison. Most attractively for departments and smaller enquiries it is also very affordable.
